I am forever humble to be invited in to the home of a new family. It is such a sacred time and place for all who live there. I pay great attention to what home means for your family at that unique time.
For some families that can mean a lot of tears and feelings of despair because of their feeding difficulties or because of other concerns. Sometimes that can mean beaming smiles and a real sense of euphoria and in many cases, it is a blend of both. Through using skills as an accredited Breastfeeding Counsellor, we can laugh together and in many instances cry together as we unpick your unique journey into parenthood that has influenced all the emotions and goals on that day when getting support to breastfeeding your child(ren). This is achieved through a holistic biopsychosocial approach to unravel how any feeding obstacles can be understood and supported. This takes intense listening and time but it allows the person-centred care that I deliver to authentically evolve.

When I gain a collective picture of the concerns and hurdles that you are faced with, together with working with your family we can use the evidence-based practice to guide the care, support and information to tailor a plan that gives the most optimum chance of getting you to achieve the infant feeding outcome that matters to you. The initial consultation involves a thorough history taking relative to feeding, as well as a feeding assessment and oral assessment of your little one(s), which gives a multifactorial opportunity to identify what obstacles may be interfering with your breastfeeding journey and how these can be managed or overcome. I love walking closely alongside my clients to build up a plan that can be reviewed and assessed regularly whilst feeding is becoming more established and in most cases with the goals of your family.
For some, this involves remote communication to share resources and to check how things are progressing and keeping good communication to alter the plans related to any changes. Future visits can be planned until as in most cases, parents are back to where they wish to be and gradually feel content with the outcome and are well on their way to feeding their baby in the way that they wish to. It is a beautiful relationship to build with families at such an intense time and wonderful to see the progress so many families make to get to where they wish to be.
In order to support you the best that I can I have obtained the highest internationally recognised qualification on the study of lactation as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) giving you the confidence that the skills and education are of the highest standard for your family. Collectively, I have 8 years breastfeeding experience, 5 of those years as a specialist in breastfeeding working with hundreds of families and over 1000 hours of supporting families to breastfeed. As a mother of two myself I have walked I bring my own relatability which I find women love. My experience also includes working for an international charity as an accredited breastfeeding counsellor and also running specialist clinics both privately and for the NHS service.
